Do you ever notice suspicious activity near your house? How about out-of-place cars or people? Have you witnessed crime as you are coming and going? Do you consider yourself observant? Do you have cameras facing the street or your yard (doorbell or surveillance)? If yes to any of these questions, then you may be interested in joining our Neighborhood Watch group!
We now have a Neighborhood Watch group for Jack Fisher Park officially recognized by the city! This allows our neighborhood to have a stronger voice with the police department and help keep our area safer.
The city requires a “block captain” to be the liaison between the Neighborhood Group and SAPD. A co-captain can also be involved.
- Block Captain: Open
- Block Co-Captain: Open
We schedule semi-regular meetings to discuss trends/issues, share crime prevention tips, success stories, etc. specific to Neighborhood Watch.
Communication from Santa Ana Police Department
At times, SAPD will reach out to block captains for assistance with certain topics/issues or to cascade information to each neighborhood group. For example, whether anyone noticed a particular vehicle on a certain day parked or driving by at a certain time. The block captain would check with the broader group to see if anyone has a match.
Communication to Santa Ana Police Department
Likewise, we are able to represent certain neighborhood trends to SAPD by having this group. For example, certain activity always happening at the park/alley/creek on X days at X times, and SAPD could use that to target patrols for known recurrences.
Neighborhood Watch Signs
Working with the Public Works Agency, our neighborhood was able to secure 13 signs strategically placed at most neighborhood entrances and known “hot spots” for activity.
